YES! Marv Albert to call Olympic hoops on NBC

Marv Albert will be back on the mike in Rio, calling men’s basketball for the 2016 Olympics.

Marv Albert has not called Olympic basketball on NBC for a dozen years. Now, he’s coming back.

Hoops informants tell us Albert, TNT’s voice of the NBA, will do play-by-play of men’s basketball for NBC during the network’s coverage of the Rio Summer Olympics, which begins in August.

Albert, who reunited with NBC last year as the blow-by-blow voice of the Peacock’s “Premier Boxing Champions” series, is no stranger to the Olympics, going all the way back to 1988 when he worked boxing, from the legendary Chamshill Students’ Gymnasium, during the summer games in Seoul, South Korea.

But it was 1992 when Albert moved to Olympic basketball on NBC chronicling the memorable exploits of the USA’s “Dream Team” during the Summer Games in Barcelona, Spain. Albert also worked hoops during the 1996 games in Atlanta.

He last called Olympic hoops in Athens in 2004.
