Newman (l.) and Kramer (c.) are buddies on ‘Seinfeld’ and now both names are taken by the Pirates in the MLB draft.
There’s never been an official “Seinfeld” reunion, but the Pirates came close to making one happen when they drafted Newman and Kramer.
OK, so it wasn’t actually those guys — played by actors Wayne Knight and Michael Richards — but on Monday, Pittsburgh selected Kevin Newman and Kevin Kramer in the first and second rounds of the MLB draft.
They’re both shortstops, but Newman is a right-handed batter from Arizona and Kramer is a lefty from UCLA.
If the whole professional baseball thing doesn’t pan out, Newman could have a thriving career as a postal worker and Kramer, well, he’d probably just frequent his neighbor’s apartment.
No one named (George) Costanza or (Elaine) Benes has been selected, and (Jerry) Seinfeld already made it perfectly clear during “The Puffy Shirt” episode that he doesn’t want to be a Pirate.
