New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist pushes over the goal cage during the second period of Thursday night’s game against the Penguins.
What a pain in the neck!
After goalie Henrik Lundqvist threw a hissy fit during a 4-1 loss on Thursday, the Pittsburgh Penguins took to Twitter to mock the long-time Ranger.
“You mad bro?” the Penguins tweeted with a gif of Lundqvist flipping the net over.
Lundqvist certainly was angry last night, throwing his own net onto the ice after a collision with teammate Ryan McDonagh.
After the game, coach Alain Vigneault said that Lundqvist “was trying to tell the referee that he was hurt… (and) obviously the referee didn’t pick up on it.”
The goalie left the game in the second period with neck spasms, but not before a delay of game penalty for his temper tantrum.
The Penguins followed up their taunting tweet with another dig at the injured goalie.
“Hornqvist directs one past Lundqvist. As if he wasn’t angry enough already,” the account tweeted with a video of the goal.
There’s a good chance the Penguins are slightly bitter after being eliminated in the playoffs by the Rangers two years in a row — including coming back in 2014 after falling behind 3-1 in the series.
