The main event between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao was delayed by perhaps 30 minutes as cable and satellite providers were overwhelmed by the amount of orders on pay-per-view, according to HBO spokesman Ray Stallone.
Thus, for what seemed like an eternity, Pacquiao’s team of national anthem singers, as well as the ring announcers and other assorted officials waited in the ring as a packed arena buzzed about and music blasted.
No announcement was made to fans as why there was a delay.
The fight is expected to break every financial record in the sport, including PPV buys and PPV revenue.
