P.K. Subban pledged $ 10 million to the Montreal Children’s Hospital in September.

P.K. Subban dropped the gloves — for a good cause.

The Montreal Canadiens star reunited with Beatrice Dompierre, the one-month-old baby in the stands he accidently struck with a puck during an open practice last month, on Wednesday.

Dompierre wound up spending the night of Feb. 21 at Montreal Children’s Hospital, a facility that Subban pledged $ 10 million last September, with a concussion.

The child’s mother, Valerie Meloche, told NHL.com that Subban meeting the family shows that he really cares.

“I was so surprised with him,” Meloche said after meeting the star following Tuesday night’s Habs game. “He was so easy to talk to and it really showed that he cares. He was playing with our children and having fun.”

The Canadiens defenseman had been in contact with the family since the night the incident occurred and met with them at the earliest convenience.

Dompierre was hit by a puck at the end of a practice, when the Canadiens deliberately toss pucks into the stands for fans, usually younger ones, to take home as souvenirs.

“I told him I was sorry that he got caught up in all this and all the negative attention that came about because of what happened,” Meloche said. “But he said, ‘No, no, that’s no problem. The most important thing is that your baby is all right.”
