Mighty Quinn is back in familiar territory: in the red.
E-mail from Guido Susi of The Bronx: “Almost passed out and fell off my chair yesterday (Feb. 23) as one inch of space was devoted to bowling on the scoreboard pages, the most widely participated sport in America for which the Daily News never devotes any space to, but should. It is a sport, but they will devote more space to cricket. Cricket? There is a major tournament on ESPN every week. If they can cover it then The News should.”
Mighty replied: “Hi, Guido. Yeah, try and print the final results from PBA on scoreboard pages. I bowled a little at Rosedale Lanes in Queens when one game cost 25 cents (1968?) and if the lead pin was red and you threw a strike … FREE GAME! Now there’s a CVS at that site. Remember bowling alleys in Jamaica and Valley Stream that had specials like, ‘10 cents on Friday afternoons.’ How much is one game now, $ 5-6? Thanx for email. Q.”
Mighty hit with Old Dominion (-7) on Thursday and likes Princeton on Friday. The deficit is 30 sirignanos.
