TAMPA — Mats Zuccarello made a surprise appearance at Tuesday’s morning skate, jumping on the ice late with his teammates with a smile that was contagious. Even head coach Alain Vigneault smirked as the Norwegian skated and played with the puck.
Zuccarello had skated once alone and once with the extras prior to this, but Tuesday is his first skate with the full team since suffering a head injury on April 24 in Game 5 of the first round against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Zuccarello is not expected to play in Game 6 and remains out indefinitely but Henrik Lundqvist at least said that he hopes the Rangers can keep winning so Zuccarello can rejoin them eventually.
