This isn’t going to help the reputation of Islanders fans.

A day after a Capitals fan claimed to be berated with homophobic and racial slurs at Nassau Coliseum, a fan threw what appeared to be a cup filled with beer at Capitals defenseman Brooks Orpik after Tuesday night’s overtime loss that tied the series, 2-2.

Orpik was lining up to congratulate his teammates after Nikolas Backstrom’s game-winning goal 11:09 into overtime when a beverage landed on Orpik’s shoulder.

Orpik flinched but proceeded to act as if nothing happened.
