A Milwaukee Brewers had enough puns in her response to fill the dugout at Miller Park.
A baseball fan who put his potential love interest on the spot got smacked around with a witty, pun-heavy response.
The boy, who wrote that he’d never met a girl who likes baseball, challenged Megan Brown to name the teams in the National League in a text without using Google. That’s when Brown, a Milwaukee Brewers fan, knew she had him right in her wheelhouse.
“It was nice to have Met(s) you, and maybe it was Brave(s) of you to ask his question, but it’s somewhat insulting,” Brown’s answer begins.
“I could Phill(ies) you in on the answer, but I’ll have to pass. It seems to be a National(s) problem with men trying to Expos(e) (bonus!) girls for not being ‘real sports fans’ instead of taking our word for it.
“But don’t worry – you know what they say – there’s other Marlins in the sea.”
Brown, whose March 29 post of the exchange has since been retweeted over 12,000 times, got some love from the Mets, who tweeted at her: “We love this,” along with a heart emoji.
Brown kept the pun going with the Mets, referencing captain David Wright by responding, “You’re all Wright in my book.”
As for the challenger, Brown said she’s still waiting for his response.
“At this point, safe to assume this dude is flat out afraid to text me back,” she tweeted. “With good reason.”
